Is Chartres in fact what one might call a `perfect' building? Are the dimensions, that produced with such precision a structure of such architectural magnificence and spiritual significance, in fact divinely ordained. If they are, do they have anything in common with the other great houses of worship around the world, constructed by and for the followers of other religions? Could Chartres have any dimensional commonality with, say, the Pyramids or Angkor Wat?
Louis Charpentier starts his hypothesis with this argument and then goes on to show, through highly complicated geometrical arguments, that this is very likely. The known dimensions of Solomon's Temple and those of the Pyramid of Cheops, correspond very nearly with lengths, widths, heights and angles of elevation found at Chartres.
To explain Charpentier's theory here would be extremely difficult.
